NASA & JeTSI to Present Paper at 2013 GSAW

 December 19, 2012

Herndon, Virginia– Jeffries Technology Solutions, Inc. (JeTSI) is pleased to announce that Mr. Alan Jeffries, President, and Mr. Robert Morgenstern, JPSS Ground Project Deputy MSE, have been selected to present a paper at the Ground System Architecture Workshop (GSAW) 2013 to be held in Los Angeles, California in March.

The paper, entitled “Application of DoDAF 2.0 for NOAA’S JPSS Ground System and Project,” will be presented during the Standards Session. Messrs. Jeffries’ and Morgenstern’s coauthors are JeTSI team members Mr. Jeff Hayden and Mrs. Laura Ellen Dafoe.

The paper will focus on the architecture methodology developed for the JPSS Ground Project system engineering process, and the various areas where the architecture modeling tools were leveraged. This includes the areas of: Command, Control, Communication Architecture; Weather Data Processing Architecture; Organizational Architecture; and the technical baseline modeling and tools.  The Department of Defense Architecture Framework version 2.0 (DoDAF 2.0) viewpoints and views that are being used to describe the JPSS Ground System (GS) architecture will be highlighted. Additionally, the details of handling the complexities of a large System of Systems (SoS), such as the JPSS GS, with an equally complex modeling tool will be described.

“The Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) is the Nation’s next generation polar-orbiting operational environmental satellite system, procured by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), through the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). JPSS will provide continuity of critical observations for accurate weather forecasting, reliable severe storm outlooks, global measurements of atmospheric and oceanic conditions such as sea surface temperatures, ozone, and more. JPSS will also monitor rescue beacons to help save lives through the international SARSAT program and continue support for the French provided Advanced Data Collection System (ADCS),” as stated on NOAA’s website.
